  • Beijing

Ni hao! Welcome to China. Today we spend a full day visiting Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City. After enjoying some local cusine, we’ll continue to the Summer Palace – A marvel of design with its huge lake and hilltop views.

This evening, join your tour group for dinner at a local restaurant.

  • Beijing

This morning we set off on a full day tour to the Great Wall of China. Located 65km to the north of Beijing city, the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is one of the best-preserved sections. Comfortable shoes will be required!

  • Beijing

Today we visit the Temple of Heaven – A tranquil oasis of peace and methodical Confucian design. In the afternoon there will be a chance for some retail therapy at the Pearl Markets followed by a walking tour of narrow Hutong streets.

Meet your group this evening for dinner at a local restaurant.

  • Beijing

Today includes a visit to Beijing National Stadium affectionately known as the Bird’s Nest, and Beijing National Aquatics Center, also  known as the Water Cube. Both were designed for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. We’ll then spend the afternoon at popular shopping markets, Silk Alley where you’ll find cashmere garments, leather goods, shoes, watches and traditional handicrafts.

  • Tiayuan

Today we leave Beijing and travel to Tiayuan via fast speed train. Upon arrival we’ll visit the Chang Family Mansion. Located 38 kilometers from Taiyuan’s city center, you’ll enter the vast compound by walking across a stone arch bridge and passing through a tall gateway onto a 650-meter-long street paved with flagstones stretching from east to west. Covering a total area of more than 600,000 square meters, the compound has over 4,000 rooms, over 50 buildings and 13 gardens.

  • Pingyao

Today we travel to the ancient town of Pingyao famed for its importance in Chinese economic history and for its well-preserved Ming and Qing urban planning and architecture.

  • Suzhou

This morning we’ll catch a flight to Shanghai and then continue to Suzhou. Upon arrival join your tour leader for an orientation walk before enjoying a group dinner.

  • Suzhou

Today we’ll visit to Suzhou Master of Nets Garden. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is regarded as one of the finest gardens in China. After lunch we’ll wonder through the Suzhou Museum and then stroll down the historic Ping jiang Road.

Following dinner, enjoy the Kun Opera in a local tea house with your tour group.

  • Shanghai

Today we’ll visit the worlds first underground hotel which took over a decade to complete. Following lunch, we’ll visit the 1933 City Planning Exhibition Centre, a six-storey building which displays Shanghai’s urban planning & development. Enjoy an afternoon exploring the touristic arts and crafts enclave, Tianzifang.

We’ll complete the day with an evening cruise down the Huangpu River.

  • Shanghai

Today we’ll visit the Oriental Pearl Tower. Located next to the Huangpu River, and opposite The Bund, it is a distinct landmark of the area. We’ll break for lunch inside the towers revolving restaurant before heading off for a shopping spree on Nanjing road.

  • Xaimen

Today we depart Shanghai and fly to Xaimen where we’ll visit the Zhongshan Road walking street. Covering a total area of one million square meters and taking up nearly one third of the total business area of Xiamen, this commercial corridor is representative of the architecture culture of Xiamen City.

  • Xianmen

After breakfast we’ll take a ferry to Gulang Island. Renowned for its beaches, winding lanes and varied architecture, Gulang island is on China’s list of National Scenic Spots and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Yongding

Today we bus to Yongding where we will visit the Yongding Tulou.

Meet your tour group this evening to enjoy a meal of local cuisine.

  • Xiamen

Today we bus to Nanjing Country and visit Yunshuiyao ancient town and Tianloukang Tulou Cluster.

Enjoy dinner with your tour group for the final time as the tour comes to an end today.

  • Xaimen

Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. You may like to fly home today or extend your stay and enjoy some additonal time in China.

Level of fittness

 

There will be a reasonable level of walking to and from sites of interest and transport stations. It is recommended that participants have a medium level of fitness.

You should be fit and in good health and be able to:

• Walk for at least a couple of hours, including over uneven ground
• Stop/start walk at galleries/museums/sites for at least a couple of hours
• Walk up and down stairs easily, and
• Carry your own luggage
